Implants for a beautiful smile!
Once teeth are lost, the bone in the area will go through resorption and eventually shrink down in width and height. Tooth loss and severe resorption of bone can affect your smile, your speech, your ability to enjoy food. It will also place a negative impact on the neighboring teeth. At Woodstock Smiles, dental implant procedures are recommended to restore the missing teeth, the chewing function, and (more importantly) those beautiful smiles.
What are dental implants?
Our Portland dental implants are made up of 3 components: the metal implant post, the connector and the crown.
-
Dental implant: is the metal screw that is made of titanium. It is placed in the bone where the tooth is missing. The bone will grow around the threads and stabilize the post over time.
-
Abutment or the connector: connects the implant and the crown. It is designed to fit the gum and make your tooth looks natural.
-
The crown: Ceramic cap that replaces your missing tooth. It has natural color and blends in with the neighboring teeth well.

Implant supported bridge:
You can consider implant supported bridge for multiple missing teeth replacement. It does not damage any natural teeth while restoring up to 3 missing teeth. Implant supported bridge is similar to the conventional bridge but it is supported by two dental implants.
Implant supported dentures/ Snap-on Dentures:
Have you ever struggled with loose dentures and constantly applied Fixodent to keep them in place? You can’t chew or speak properly with your existing dentures? Some patients don’t have adequate bone support to stabilize their dentures and that when dental implants come to provide the extra retention and stability.
Four implants are placed in the jaw bone to increase retention for the dentures. They won’t slip or rock. The dentures snap in and out so that you can remove them at night and clean just like how you would do it with traditional dentures.
Full-arch fixed implant bridge- All on 4
If you don’t like the traditional dentures or are tired of the snap on dentures, there is another option which is full-arch fixed implant bridge. These bridges are supported by 4 or 6 dental implants. They are screwed in and you can’t remove them yourself. The bridges do not have the palate or flanges as in traditional dentures so they improve speech and ability to chew significantly.
