What Dental Emergency Are You Dealing With?

Broken tooth can be very painful and a common dental emergency. It is probably best to come see a dentist as soon as you can. Meanwhile, rinse out your mouth with warm salt water or mouth wash, and try to avoid chewing on that side.

So your tooth is loose, but it didn't get knocked out completely. That’s good news. The dentist may be able to save your tooth. Take some over the counter painkillers, put some ice on it, and get to the dentist as soon as possible. The sooner you get to the dental office, the higher chance your tooth will be saved successfully.

Oh boy, this is not fun. Hopefully, you didn’t swallow it on accident. If you did, don’t worry you’re not going to die. Try to keep the crown or filling if you still have it and bring it with you to the dentist. Your tooth is going to be very sensitive to almost any sensation of things going into your mouth. That includes air. Avoid eating or drinking anything cold in that area. But your best bet is to get to the our Woodstock dentists as soon as the pain can get worse and infection can develop later.

Toothaches can be the symptom of a lot of different issues. There is no way to correctly self-identify what the cause is by yourself. The best thing to do is start with rinsing out your mouth with some warm salt water or mouthwash, and gently floss around the tooth to make sure no food is hanging out around there. If it persists, you’re going to need to take a trip to the dentist. An x-ray should help identify the underlying cause.

When something gets stuck between your teeth, it can become rather painful and could lead to infection. Risk of cavities or infection increases significantly after the first 72 hours. Try to get it out with some floss. If that hurts too much, you could also try something like Soft Picks for a gentler approach. If all else fails, you’re going to want to call the dentist.

Swelling indicates infection and you may have an abscessed tooth. Infection could results in extreme pain, sensitivities to cold, hot, biting. The pain could keep you up at night time and most of the time unbearable. DO NOT procrastinate on this. There’s really nothing you can do other than getting to the dentist as soon as possible.

A broken jaw can be serious. there’s nothing you can do for this other than take some over the counter painkillers and put some ice on it until you can get to the ER. You will likely need a maxillofacial surgeon for this and a surgery as soon as possible.

Pericoronitis is an inflammation of the tissue around the partially erupted wisdom teeth. It is caused by the accumulation of food or bacteria under the flap of tissue covering the tooth. It could be very painful and impossible to clean out the debris. You'll likely feel a painful pressure in your wisdom teeth area also. See an emergency dentist as soon as possible to get this resolved.
